President's Message
W. Ashley Hood, FACOOG (Dist.), FACOG
ACOOG President 2025–2026
Hello ACOOG Family!
I can not begin to thank the membership of the ACOOG for allowing me to serve as your 2025-2026 President. I am humbled to be given such an honor, and I know that we will look back on this year and see many accomplishments and growth! We are very fortunate to have so many wonderful leaders and amazing staff that work so diligently and have a passion for this osteopathic specialty college that we all call HOME!
We certainly had an amazing Annual Conference at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas in Palm Springs, April 6-11, 2025. I hope that you enjoyed the inspiring CME lectures and also the wonderful "Roaring 20's" Presidential celebration! You may recall in my Presidential address that I highlighted several pillars on which I feel define the ACOOG:
COMMUNITY
A gathering of people together with common interests and common goals. There is a passion that we all have to see this organization become bigger and stronger. We are family!
CME (OSTEOPATHIC)
To preserve the unique principles of osteopathic medicine, we will consistently emphasize a holistic approach that considers the mind, body, and spirit of our patients, integrating osteopathic medicine into our CME programs.
COLLABORATION
There are many other stakeholders, both osteopathic and allopathic, that share the same interests — whether advancing osteopathic medicine or Women's Health, or both. (AOA, AOBOG, ACOG, etc.)
CONNECTION
Connect with our lawmakers through advocacy efforts! We have to be a voice for our patients and for each other! We have to enhance our connection with new members, residents/fellows, and students — the future of our organization!
Task Force on Program Director Outreach: Reaching out to every ACGME OB/GYN residency program director to establish a long-lasting connection with the ACOOG, creating materials and educating program directors about the COMLEX-USA and the ACGME requirement that programs allow osteopathic residents to obtain osteopathic board certification.
The road of education that starts at an osteopathic medical school should end in osteopathic board certification!
I also want to call attention to the absolutely fantastic job that Rupesh Patel, DO, FACOOG (Dist.), has done with our new podcast, "Women's Health Minutes". This podcast has many episodes and is filled with very interesting content. Thank you, Dr. Patel!!
At our upcoming Annual Conference, Jennifer Papp, DO, will take the helm. Dr. Papp has done a fabulous job on our board of trustees and brings great knowledge of ACOOG's mission and values.
Thank you again for giving me the honor of leading this amazing osteopathic specialty college.
W. Ashley Hood, FACOOG (Dist.), FACOG
ACOOG President 2025–2026
Message from the Executive Vice President
Michael J. Geria, DO, MS, FACOOG(Dist)
Chief Executive Officer
Dear Colleagues,
Twenty Twenty-Five is waning and once again, I am filled with gratitude and pride for what we have achieved together. The American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOOG) continues to thrive, thanks to your unwavering continued support.
I want to extend a thank you to the co-chairs of our 2025 Advances in Women's Health conference, Drs. Shania Seibles, DO, JD, FACOOG, and Mary Joy Hyde, DO, FACOOG. Your leadership and vision were instrumental in creating a program that was not only unique but also immensely informative.
CME is constantly changing and the ACOOG is keeping pace with these trends. ACOOG provides many opportunities for members to receive CME credits in person and online. Your membership includes multiple CME activities which are available at no additional cost.
I am proud to say that in July, the ACOOG received an AOA Presidential Citation from then AOA President Teresa Hubka, DO, FACOOG(Dist) CS. This award was for the collaboration between the ACOOG and the AOBOG to provide coordinated education.
In closing, I thank each of you for your continued commitment to ACOOG and to advancing women's health. I hope to see many of you at the 93rd Annual Conference, April 9-13, 2026, in Orlando FL.
Warm regards,
Michael J. Geria, DO, MS, FACOOG(Dist)
