Elevating Osteopathic OB/GYN Applicants in a Competitive Match
Advanced preparation. Professional identity formation. A stronger path to residency.
Readiness, Redefined
What Is Prelude to Residency?
Prelude to Residency (P2R) is a strategic framework from the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOOG) designed to help osteopathic OB/GYN applicants stand out through advanced preparation, professional identity formation, and meaningful engagement with residency expectations.
P2R is evidence-based and grounded in neuroscience. It uses intentional spaced retrieval to help participants internalize knowledge, skills, and attitudes before residency begins.

A curated, annotated bibliography of high-impact resources structured to augment materials from APGO, CREOG, and other national organizations.
Readiness for Residency Pre-Work

Pre-Work Before Pre-Work?
This is not redundancy. P2R uses intentional, strategic spaced retrieval grounded in neuroscience. This approach helps you internalize key knowledge, skills, and attitudes while continuing to build your professional identity before residency begins.
