About the Position
The Physician OB/GYN provides inpatient, outpatient, surgical, and on-call obstetrics and gynecology services including diagnosing and treating diseases of the female reproductive system and the prenatal, perinatal, and postnatal care of routine and complicated pregnancies, as well as routine care of the normal neonate.
π¬ Duties & Responsibilities
Obtain medical history; perform physical examinations; order and interpret appropriate laboratory and radiology tests; determine diagnosis, prognosis, and initiate appropriate treatment, therapy, and follow-up. Provide complete medication instructions and refer patients to consultants as appropriate.
Respond to "Code Blue" medical emergency alerts within the hospital and provide resuscitation treatment until more specialized care arrives. Pronounce death, complete necessary records, and notify next-of-kin if physically present when resuscitation efforts are unsuccessful.
Provide medical consultation to Nurse Midwives, Nurse Practitioners, and other clinical staff consistent with the most recent standards of care.
Ensure timely dictation of surgical inpatient services. Maintain medical records in accordance with designated regulations; records are subject to peer review.
Must remain in the clinic or be immediately available throughout the scheduled shift, except in response to emergencies.
π Work Schedule
14 clinic days including 1–3 OR days per schedule.
1 weekend primary in-house call — two 12-hour shifts (Saturday & Sunday).
2 weeknight primary in-house calls plus 2 L&D and ER/Other Consults primary/backup day calls.
Backup beeper calls coincide with the primary call schedule — after hours and weekends on rotation.
11 days off per schedule, including most weekends.
30-minute response time required for secondary/backup on-call services.
Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited medical school in the U.S. or Canada, with successful completion of postgraduate training.
Valid, unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth.
Minimum one year of full-scope OB/GYN experience within the last two years.
Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Current, valid individual Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
